The Sequim Lavender Farm Faire is proud to partner with Gentle Paws, a local therapy dog group, and offer Pet Sitting services at the July 20-22 2012 event, to be held at Carrie Blake Park, Sequim WA 98382. This will be the 11th consecutive year that this service has been provided by Gentle Paws and, once again, will be sponsored by BEST FRIEND NUTRITION: A health food store for pets, located in Sequim (360-681-8458, www.bestfriendnutrition.com and on Facebook).
The service is open for animals from 10 am - 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and 10 am - 6 pm on Sunday. Animals (mostly dogs, but there has been an occasional cat) will be housed in crates and exercise pens, in a safe, secured and shaded location. If permitted, we will occasionally exercise your animal and give a treat or two, with plenty of cool water available. A lot of petting happens also. Although many Faire visitors love to talk with us, we do not permit direct access to animals under our care, for safety and liability concerns. You can leave your pet for 30 minutes or all day. Please, do not leave your animal in an uncomfortable or dangerous situation, like in a car, or any enclosed space. There is no charge for this service, donations are appreciated.
Gentle Paws is a therapy dog group which currently includes over 50 members. Our purpose is to utilize our dogs to provide comfort and companionship to people in retirement and assisted living homes, Alzheimer and dementia facilities, hospice care, local hospital and library and an adult day care operation. We also visit pre-schools and elementary schools and encourage kids to read to our dogs. We also participate in a number of special fun events in the Community during the year. Since our inception in October, 2000, there have been over 1800 visitations made by our members and their dogs in rural Clallam County.
